“45 Years Later, the Revolution IS Being Televised.”

UPDATE:  In the wake of last Thursday’s massacre of police officers in Dallas, I felt it timely to repost this essay from last September. Unfortunately, as the Republican and Democrat conventions approach, and then Election Day, I fear things are going to get worse.  JJS.

24 hours ago, a police officer was gunned down in suburban Chicago, evidently in cold blood. Last week, another officer in Houston had 15 rounds pumped into him as he sat at a gas station while yet another cop in Louisiana was ambushed and killed responding to a domestic disturbance call. Last year, two police officers where assassinated in retaliation for the deaths of Mike Brown and Eric Garner. In a twist befitting Orwell, as this is happening, a fraudulent sham “civil rights” movement/organization known as Black Lives Matter takes to the streets to protest phantom persecution of black youths by white police officers. All the while, the those in the movement including its leaders openly call for violence against the police and white citizens in general (here, here). Anyone care to guess how this insanity got started and by whom?

Without the benefit of Halcyon, let us revisit the halcyon days of July 2009. Barely six months into the Nobel Peace Prize-winning, post-racial, historic, positively messianic reign of Barack Hussein Obama (“mmm, mmm, mmm!”). The scene: Cambridge, Massachusetts. Upon returning from a trip to China, Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, affectionately known as “Skip” to his friends, was unable to enter his residence. Accompanied by his chauffeur, the two went round the back of the building and tried to force their way in. As luck would have it, a passerby, seeing what to her looked like suspicious if not alarming behavior, promptly phoned the police who quickly responded.

When officers arrived, Gates already was inside and on the phone. He told the cops, one of whom was black, that he had entered through the back door and shut off the alarm. It was an honest mistake on the part of the police. But Gates didn’t see it that way. He launched into a tirade at the lead officer, Sgt. Crowley, accusing him of racial profiling. Not only did he not calm down, he also refused to produce an ID upon request. Rather than answer routine questions, Gates shouted, “This is what happens to black men in America!,” and “You don’t know who you’re messing with.” After following Crowley out the front porch calling him a “racist,” police arrested him for disorderly conduct. He was taken down to the station and put in a temporary holding cell. Police released him after he paid a $40 fee and scheduled him for an arraignment in August.

“Apology accepted, cracka’.”

Oh, did I forget to mention Skippy is black? Not only is he black, he’s among the most high profile blacks in the nation. Almost immediately, the race card was thrown faster than you can say “hands up, don’t shoot.” The usual gang of racialist bloodsuckers were showboating in front of the TV cameras, capitalizing on a less than shining moment in law enforcement to turn it into the lynching of Emmett Till – yet again. Bear in mind that Officer Crowley by all accounts acted with enormous restraint while taking considerable verbal abuse from an uncooperative and agitated Gates. Yet even after charges were dropped and a full apology from the City of Cambridge, Skippy just wouldn’t let it go:

“There are 1 million black men in the prison system, and…I became one of them.”

Did it ever occur to this man, an intellectual and a professor so we are led to believe, to just shut up, listen and answer the police officer’s questions calmly and politely (and at the risk of being called a racist, did it ever occur to him that the reason these black men are in prison is that they may have actually been convicted of committing a crime?)? Whatever one thinks about the police, this should be the default, instinctive position to take without question. Stay tuned for Michael Brown. But the real shocker in this whole incident came not from those involved or even the peripheral players.  Within what seemed like the blink of an eye President Obama opened his mouth without the benefit of a teleprompter and more importantly common sense.

“The Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home…”

[Obama] began his comments by saying Gates, who he referred to by the nickname Skip, “is a friend, so I may be a little biased here.” The president said that while “I don’t know all the facts” of the arrest or the role race played in it, the case highlighted “a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.”

He added: “That’s just a fact. I am standing here as testimony to the progress that’s been made” on race relations, he said. “And yet the fact of the matter is, is that, you know, this still haunts us.”

First and foremost, WHY is the President of the United States even deigning to comment on a local law enforcement situation? I understand that Skip Gates is a personal friend of his and that the media are just as guilty as Sharpton and Jackson in wanting to manufacture an incident of national import (which it ain’t). Instead of just giving it a cursory response vis a vis his friendship with Gates, he declares that the police “acted stupidly” after admitting that he “didn’t know all the facts.” And then after damning us with faint praise with the ‘you’ve come a long way baby’ schtick, he immediately berates us as recidivists and not-so-closeted Klansmen.

This may be a roundabout way of getting to the meat of the story, but it is “the root cause” as so many on the left are fond of saying of the apparent intentional targeting of police officers. Barack Obama, the President of the United States, who is putatively the one person who is supposed to unite us all clearly and unambiguously starts us on a course that for the next six years (with another year or so to go) will set race relations back at least half a century and tear at the fabric of our society.

I suppose the warning signs were all there even before the election:

The downside of this is that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the whites. The blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their man. They are in a state of trance.  They truly believe Obama is their messiah. He is the fruition of their long quest for black power. Cultic mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama’s detractors of racism. This will cause a backlash among the whites.  The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. It is unlikely that Whites would ever devolve to racism, but all it takes is a substantial number of disaffected people to fuel the flames of racial tension. I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions in America will increase to levels never seen since the turbulent 1960s. Obama will set the clock back decades. Despite his campaign rhetoric he has been a racist all his life.  He will interpret any dissent as a rejection of his racial identity.  As resentment towards him increases, so will his paranoia. He will grow distrustful of the whites and will surround himself with the blacks and other yesmen with whom he identifies himself.  America’s near future is bleak.

Even before l’affaire Skip, at the inauguration itself – the very first day – we had this puerile little ditty from the Reverend Joseph Lowery:

Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around — (laughter) — when yellow will be mellow — (laughter) — when the red man can get ahead, man — (laughter) — and when white will embrace what is right.

“Get back?!” Did he not realize that he was giving the benediction at the inaugural of the nation’s first black president? A man who would not have been elected were it not for a majority of the majority race in this nation? Did the white not embrace what is right in November 2008?! Not only is he stuck in the 60’s, Reverend Lowery is stuck in the 1860’s.

Lowery

“Stuck in the ’60s”

But the fact that Lowery’s perception that America is a land of institutional racism where black people are still subjugated and treated as third class citizens is the real tell.  And it’s tragic because, as one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s right hand men he should know better. Ditto Gates. These men are not low-information drones. They are, at least on the surface, thoughtful, intellectual and highly educated. The same supposedly for President Obama (he has other issues, both personal and psychological that account for quite a bit). I cannot read their minds or tell you why they “bitterly cling” to these perceptions when people such as Clarence Thomas, Ben Carson, Shelby Steele, Mia Love, Tim Scott, Star Parker, Herman Cain, Thomas Sowell, Allen West, Condoleeza Rice and so many other equally bright and gifted individuals, many who actually felt the sting of real racism and poverty quite obviously do not.

I suppose to turn the tables on the left and make their heads explode, it’s a very deeply ingrained form of, for lack of a better term, false consciousness.  After 50 years of Democrat/Leftist policy via the War on Poverty and Great Society, the black family has been all but destroyed and dependent upon Uncle Sugar for sustenance, specifically the Democrat Party. The party that, through its acolytes in media and academia, created the lie blaming an irredeemably racist “Amerikkka” for the immiseration of blacks when it was in fact the very policies and programs that bear the guilt. In academia today, we have professors who demand students spit back his indoctrination about so-called “white privilege” lest their grades suffer. You have entertainers such as Snoop Dogg, Chuck D., Tupac Shakur, Spike Lee, Kanye West, Russell Simmons and so many others who spread the big lie day in and day out in their movies and music, some even exhorting their audience to kill cops (Considering what they went through, I can only imagine Duke Ellington and Marian Andersen weeping up in Heaven at the sight of these people).

trayvon_martin

“He was a good boy. No, really.”

So it’s bad enough when Angela Corrie sets out to railroad George Zimmerman in the tragic shooting of Trayvon Martin. But like clockwork, President Obama inserts himself into what in a sane world would be a local crime story by proclaiming “if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon” and the subsequent discovery of a new anthropological subgroup known as the “white hispanic,” since Mr. Zimmerman had the nerve to not actually be caucasian.

Or that the shooting of “the gentle giant” Mike Brown precipitated a lie heard round the world that he was walking down the street when a white police officer shot him in the back as he had his hands up while surrendering.  Overwhelming evidence  shows that he had assaulted Officer Darren Wilson, punching him in the face while trying to steal his gun before being shot as he bull rushed the policeman. The result? Ferguson burned but nobody learned – the truth, that is.

Which leads us to Eric Garner, who died in a choke hold while resisting arrest for selling “loosies” on Staten Island. Never mind the fact that he was overweight, had a heart condition, was put in a submission hold because he was resisting arrest. White cops murdered him, even though the officer in charge at the scene was female and black. In point of fact, it could be argued he died for tax evasion. Unlike the Feds, Bill DeBlasio’s welfare checks won’t print themselves.

And then there’s Freddie Gray in Baltimore where a corrupt mayor with an equally corrupt and militant district attorney are attempting to railroad the police who arrested Mr. Gray and essentially render an entire city defenseless in the face of criminality as punishment for, what exactly? No matter, Baltimore’s crime hasn’t been this bad in 43 years and its murder rate has skyrocketed. With that, the bromide of “no justice, no peace” now becomes reality, though not quite the way it was envisioned.

Not surprisingly, this all plays well into Mr. Obama’s plans to nationalize yet another locally controlled institution – law enforcement. It also serves his political strategy of divide and conquer, and blame evil conservatives and the GOP for caring more about  the rich 1% than the poor and disenfranchised, enforce the notion that any opposition to his policies is because of racism, as well as perpetuate the lie of “Amerikka.”

We are going to see more police assassinated in the last year of Obama and beyond. And not only does he not care, it serves his political expediency and considering his past associations with the likes of Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright, in a perverse way feeds into his belief system.

  1. So, did you like the movie?

    🙂

Seriously: well thought out, well-written, no histrionics. What’s not to love about this post?

And to quote another moron: Thing I like best about the Obama era? All the racial healing.

  2. Thank you, sir. I got alarmed when I hit the 500 word mark and was just getting warmed up! But pixels are cheap.

  3. Well, JJ, I have nothing to add to your thoughts. You have laid the problem out about as clearly as possible.

What I will say — being, alas, older — is that I went through the LBJ-era “civil rights movement” (even participated in it a few times) and witnessed the birth of the Race Grievance Movement now led by Choom Boy. I thought I was doing a Good Thing by getting involved; turns out I was snookered, hoodwinked and bamboozled.

That gives me, IMO, a deeper store of justifiable anger at the way all of us, of every damn race, have been suckered by the self-righteous crap laid down by the Oppressed People.

Once you anoint the Special Snowflakes as being worthy of more rights than anyone else, you never go back….

  4. Excellent post JJ.

I think that my sig line pretty much sums up my position on these things. The thugs may has better arms than in the 60’s but one thing they don’t, and never will have, is superior numbers Plus there will be a part of the populace out for revenge, and their wrath will be the thing that should worry these idiots the most because they will be indiscriminate .

  5. Gmac:

With every fibre of my being, I hope that it never comes to this. I want to believe that most of the insanity we see vis a vis the terrorist front group Black Lives Matter is media hype, as it was with Occupy Wall Street. That said, the murder of innocent peace officers – which is their fault AND that of Obama and Holder and the Left, is unforgivable. I believe that the majority of Americans, regardless of their backgrounds, are decent people. It’s a crime against humanity what the Democrats have done to black Americans, if they even allow them to be born alive and not dissected for parts.

    G-d help us.

  6. Whenever leftists bleat about the number of black men in prison I always wonder how they square that bleat with the battlefields that are black neighborhoods, or the fact that the leading cause of death of black males 15-35 is homicide – by other black males (not by cops).

  7. Go one better on the Skip Gates story. In the SAME SPEECH where Obama says the police acted stupidly, he admits (earlier in said speech) that he doesn’t have all the facts?

That as well should have been a wake-up call that Barack Obama was a deeply stupid person as well as a virulent racist.

  8. Oops, you did have that, nevermind 🙂

Still, it shows early on who and what Obama was, and the band played on, the media continuing to insist the Emperor has great clothes.

  9. I have a story similar to that of Skip Gates. Back in the early 90s, two of my friends were helping the brother of one of the friends to move. It was in a nice area of L.A. near Beverly Hills. Now, my friends were gearheads and also liked heavy metal music, so when they pull up in a beat-up looking Dodge Ram, wearing Dio and Motley Crue tee-shirts, with thrashed jeans and long hair, the neighbors think “These people don’t belong here.” Then they see them carrying furniture out of the brothers apartment. Next thing you know, the police pull up and draw their weapons. In the end it worked out fine, because my friends knew that you don’t agitate the police.
