The Morning Report 8/23/19

Good morning, kids. The weekend’s here and there are other things beside the National Socialist Democrat Anti-Semitic Party making news. First up, to the border we go where the President is ready to smack down the decades-long egregious abuse of the 14th Amendment. Per Fox News:

“We’re looking at that very seriously,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for Kentucky. “Birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land — you walk over the border, have a baby, congratulations, the baby’s now a US citizen. We’re looking at it very, very seriously …It’s, frankly, ridiculous.”

Halle-freaking-lujah. For those wholly unaware, the 14th Amendment is one of the Civil War Amendments that had the sole intention of conferring citizenship upon the newly freed slaves. Nothing more, nothing less. It did not, nor could it have ever meant, what the President illustrated. Unless, of course, you’re a Leftist who, if you can’t ignore or destroy the Constitution outright, you pack the courts with hack-in-black saboteurs who burn its entrails and suddenly find “penumbras” and “emanations” that make your case.

If by some miracle the President should win this battle, it will have a salutary effect on the Constitution and rule of law. That said, considering the makeup of SCOTUS as it stands and the eye-of-Jupiter-sized shit storm the Left will throw up, the situation is in doubt. And despite a victory still leaving millions of people here who never would’ve been granted citizenship in the first place, it will effectively plug a massive breach in our sovereignty and quite possibly have an impact on the debate between originalism/strict constructionism and the “living and breathing” bastardization. Or not.

Elsewhere, the beat goes on vis a vis the disaster of open borders where it seems Maryland is the center of an illegal alien rape epidemic courtesy of sanctuary jurisdictions, North Carolina’s Governor should be arrested and removed from office for what amounts to insurrection, unsurprising yet still shocking statistics of just who is committing a very large percentage of crimes, Democrats are full of shit on family separations, this Tom Malinowski stooge from Jersey is an arrogant, tone-deaf windsock, and lastly, speaking of madness in North Carolina, your kids are in “good hands” if they go to school in Charlotte.
