I posted this on Monday night’s Overnight thread, but I wanted to be sure you guys saw this.
The Triggernometry men just had a sit-down with former MI6 spy Aimen Dean and NYT bestselling national security journalist Richard Miniter, for a deep dive into the geostrategic and ideological ramifications of the Iran war — and the ramifications of NOT doing it.

They go into, among other things, the global ramifications WRT China and Russia; the nature of the IRGC’s form of Islam (scarier than you might think); what the Gulf region Muslim states really think about Iran; the conflict between the CIA’s wishes (they have actually given Israel a no-kill list for the regime heads, allegedly) and those of Israel, and more.
Bottom line, this is a big gamble, but not excising the Twelver cancer is a far bigger gamble. The whole conversation is fascinating, particularly Aiman’s comments, as he’s a native with a very different POV.
