The Morning Rant

Well, this isn’t a rant, so you’ll have to wait a bit for some frothing-at-the-mouth vitriol aimed at the disgusting affront of the day.

This sort of story always pleases my sense that we are still pretty damned good at some things.

The incredible (and unique) firepower of the US Army’s Night Stalkers

A legendary Night Stalker and AH-6 Little Bird pilot with 11 combat deployments under his belt and 30 years of service, Coker has seen it all. In 2004, his AH-6 Little Bird was shot down by Iraqi insurgents carrying a Man-Portable Air-Defense System (MANPAD). Not only did Coker and his co-pilot manage to crash safely, but they also joined the Delta Force assault team that came to their rescue and immediately went after the very same insurgents who shot them down.

The highlighted part is just awesome, and quintessentially American. Just think of Washington crossing the Delaware River in preparation for attacking the Hessian garrison in Trenton. At night, in the bitter cold, and half the force unable to cross. Then he knocked the snot out of a large number of professional soldiers.

That is the American spirit that is the core of our Exceptionalism, and one that we must preserve and grow if we are to claw back from the edge of the progressive abyss.
