Tip O’Neill famously, and accurately said, “All politics is local.” Well…mostly accurate, but it’s good enough for government work. State parties are where the heavy lifting is done, and solid ones have tremendous influence over the direction their states — and the country — go!
But let us discuss the lousy ones! Yes, there will be some debate, but the Republican Party of New Jersey might be the worst of a sordid and lazy list of pathetic state political organizations. They do nothing…not even fundraising…with any sense of urgency or purpose. And there are multiple avenues for activity, not least of which is the mail-in ballot fiascos during Covid. When solid Republican counties turn in late mail-in ballots that increase the Democrat lead, shouldn’t someone ask the obvious questions?
And even granting the cowardice of the NJ Republican Party, how about just trying to get out the vote! That seems to be an easy and well-understood function of a stat party, and one that won’t interfere with those prized cocktail party invitations in Trenton.
But they couldn’t even do that. Corruptocrat Phil Murphy of Goldman Sachs won by fewer than 85,000 votes, with a pathetic 40% turnout. He was weak, he was ineffective, and he was unappealing: just the sort of candidate who is vulnerable. But the Republican Party Of NJ couldn’t be bothered to do the minimum, and the results showed.
I am a registered Republican who has voted in every single general election of my adult life, and I was never contacted by anyone in the party apparatus. That is simply pathetic. And the same thing was true in 2022, and 2024, and 2026!
But now I am supposed to believe that another feckless and weak Democrat is ripe for the taking? Sure…in a state with a modestly-well-functioning party, but not NJ.
Booker rival who ‘shoots from the hip’ hopes viral debate moment can break GOP’s Senate drought
The sad thing is that Justin Murphy makes a lot of sense when he speaks, and his platform is a good one. With the pathetic turnout in NJ, his opponent, Cory Booker (who is a f*cking retard) is absolutely vulnerable. A robust GOTV program would narrow the traditional Democrat advantage in NJ to a manageable gap. But it hasn’t happened, and it never will.
