Sherwin Williams is a great example of a stalwart local corporate pillar now being run by globalist management and being destroyed. Heidi Petz took over last year as CEO. Her first act was to abandon their low-rent corporate HQ for downtown, very expensive, high rise executive office space, start giving money to downtown help-the-downtrodden projects, and start awarding herself oodles of incentives, thanks to the board.
It’s very sad to see, but someone has to pay for her eventual retirement mansion in Palm Beach.
I had the same mind-set as B.T., as he described in his Sherwin-Williams essay. I went as far as believing that industrial workers were just going to have to suck it up and accept that they had competition in the labor market. Not any more.
I can see the pitfalls of protectionism, but I’d prefer that we make many more things in this country. The recent debacle concerning supply chains affirmed that.
