Hey! Where’s the Brooklyn accent? No Brooklyn accent? What about LonGiland accent? Confused, and disappointed, not to say chagrined or despondent.

My dear mother of blessed memory, was an English teacher and loathed the Brooklyn accent. She gave me dirty looks whenever I said “Like” and “you know.” considering she was an Hungarian immigrant the irony was that she taught in a predominantly black high school, and I always imagined her students speaking Jive with a tinge of Zsa Zsa Gabor!
