2) The situation is gloomy, but that birdsong in the background can raise spirits. What’s with that? Does one of you keep birds, or is the window open? (Judging from the wind that we sometimes hear, I envision that Sefton does his talking from a nice shed in the backyard.)

I was outside on a beautiful sunny day. Sometimes the wind picks up. Sorry about that and in future I will endeavor to be inside in a quieter venue.
