The Morning Rant

Let us be honest: the world would be a less interesting place without blithering idiots like AOC on the political stage. We often joke about increasing the minimum wage to some ridiculous amount, but as is becoming more and more common in post-Trump America, truth is stranger than fiction.

AOC: $15 Minimum Wage a ‘Deep, Deep Compromise,’ Should Be $24

“Any person who thinks that a $15 minimum wage is the ‘crazy socialist agenda’ is living in a dystopian capitalist nightmare. And we should not prop that up. We should not continue that,” she said. “There are basic goods that people can’t afford to live on on $7.25 an hour, she continued, arguing that it is “deeply, deeply shameful” that they are having this conversation in the first place. “Because when you take the minimum wage from several decades ago and you actually account for inflation and productivity gains to today, it should be $24 an hour,” she continued.

Okay, let’s play that game! Extrapolate the true minimum wage from 1938, the first year we had a minimum wage law. Let’s see…$0.00 extrapolated over 83 years equals…$0.00.

Even granting her premise, the minimum wage in 1938 was $0.25/hour. And if we correct that for inflation it should be $4.64/hour. Fine, I will accept that as the federal minimum wage. Any takers? I paid my nine-year-old neighbor more than that to water our hanging baskets last summer!

Aside from exposing the lazy ignorance and stupidity of Alexandra Donkey-Chompers, it also illuminates how sadly ignorant of basic reporting our Fourth Estate really is. How difficult would it have been to do some cursory fact checking and call her on her stupidity? Or is that reserved for Republicans and President Trump?

I’ll stand by my prediction that the older Fredo (Andrew Cuomo) survives his sexual harassment attacks and finishes out his term as a weak lame duck without any moral authority. There is a bill in process that would allow the recall of a governor, but currently there is no mechanism available to the voters of NY. The legislature can impeach him, but how likely is that?MAGA NY.jpg

But the chaos and infighting is good for NY, since it keeps the entire political class preoccupied and leaves them less time to screw up the state even more.
