The Morning Report 8/5/20

Good morning, kids. Midweek and several big stories are making waves. First up was the massive explosion in Beirut that leveled a vast area of the port and left at least 100 dead, as of this morning, and hundreds more wounded. It is likely that a large arms cache exploded either on a ship docked in the harbor or at a nearby warehouse of some kind. Lebanon is for all intents and purposes an armed camp controlled by Hezbollah, who are in turn controlled by Iran. And with Israel just across the border to the south, the implications are apparent. Israel only a few days earlier thwarted a terrorist attack, while Iran has been ramping up the war talk for at least the past six months in the wake of that country’s collapsing economy, internal strife and mysterious explosions and fires at several nuke facilities that have set back their nuclear weapons program by at least a few years. 

Speaking of internal strife and explosions not-so-mysterious, I give you Portland (take my strife – please!). While that city continues to be consumed by rioting aimed primarily at the police, the Democrat-Media Complex continues to belch up the risible joke that there is no such thing as violent rioting, and if you keep on insisting that there is, they’ll shove a Molotov cocktail down your shorts and a laser in your eyes. After gas giant Jerry Nadler proclaimed the violence to be a “myth” generated by Republicans and Trump, the Senator from Macadamia Child Whorehouse Mazie Hirohito said “hold my beer” at a Senate hearing yesterday:

…”You obviously can invite whoever you want to this hearing, but I would like to record my concern regarding the presence of the Center for Security Policy at this hearing,” Hirono said. “The Center for Security Policy (CSP) is an organization that has been spreading anti-Muslim conspiracy theories.”

Hirono referenced an SPLC attack on CSP Founder Frank Gaffney, whom she referred to as “Frank Gaffrey,” that he spread the “conspiracy theory” that former President Barack Obama was a Muslim. This claim comes from a 2009 Washington Examinerop-ed in which Gaffney half-mockingly dubbed Obama “America’s first Muslim president” in the same way some called Bill Clinton “America’s first black president.”

In addition to this smear, twisted out of context, Hirono cited the SPLC’s accusation that CSP is a “hate group” and noted that the Anti-Defamation League has “criticized” CSP.

Kyle Shideler, the CSP senior analyst for homeland security and counterterrorism Cruz invited to testify, pushed back on Hirono’s attacks.

“The Center for Security Policy is a national security think tank that has been in operation since 1988. We do a wide variety of work on national security topics, including nuclear deterrents, missile defense, biodefense, geopolitical challenges, including Russia and China. And that’s in addition to work on terrorism, terrorist ideologies, and homeland security,” Shideler said…

First of all, the SPLC is a complete fraud; the fact is the KKK, Aryan Nations and other so-called “right wing” hate groups are for all intents and purposes fringe, with statistically insignificant numbers of confirmed members. And despite zero things in common with and denounced by anyone and everyone on our side, the SPLC inflates their numbers and threat and continues to smear us as being joined at the hip with them. Plus, the “hate groups” it does identify include anyone and anything that is non-Democrat and non-Leftist. Actual Muslim terrorists and terror organizations as well as Antifa, BLM, New Black Panthers, enviro-terrorists and others are strangely non-existent in their files and warnings. As for the ADL, it is a prime example of a once-respected organization that long ago had been killed and gutted by Leftists who are now traipsing around in its rotting skin-suit. 

Ted Cruz was not having any of Hirohito’s and the Dems’ bullshit. 

…Before getting up to leave the hearing, Hirono said “we can all agree” on denouncing “violent extremism of all stripes.”

“So to constantly accuse Democrats of not caring about that is… I can only say that you aren’t listening,” she added. “So I hope this is the end of this hearing, Mr. Chairman, and we don’t have to listen to any more of your rhetorical speeches. Thank you very much. I’m leaving.”

“I appreciate the, as always the kind and uplifting words of Senator Hirono,” Cruz responded. “And I would also note that throughout her remarks she still did not say a negative word about antifa, nor has any Democrat here. They instead engage in a political game where they depend — you’re welcome to say something negative about Antifa right now.”

“I think that I’ve covered the subject quite well,” Hirono said as she left.

“OK, she declined to speak, so that is the position of the Democratic Party,” Cruz shot back. “I would note also that of the seven Democratic senators who spoke, not one of them apologized for or denounced multiple Democrats calling law enforcement officers Nazis, stormtroopers and Gestapo. To be fair, I have not heard the word Nazi, but stormtrooper was Nancy Pelosi and Gestapo was another Democratic leader. That was less than helpful…”

They’re never going to denounce it because they approve of it. That said, they play their coy little word games because they know that more and more Americans across the board are seeing that burning courthouses and police stations, cops beaten up and handcuffed, so to speak, by Democrat mayors and BLM thugs shaking down and terrorizing businesses is what is in store for them if the Democrats take control after November. * * * * *

Along with the results from yesterday’s primary races, there are a couple of items that I think bode well for Trump and please G-d his coattails come November. Look at the record for gun sales, especially first-time gun buyers, which is only the latest statistic since the lockdowns and the violent insurrection, look at an interesting poll about suburban voters utterly horrified about Biden bringing back the AFFH ruling that would destroy their communities, black Trump supporters marching in the heart of Los Angeles, and the continued Democrat ploy to keep Biden in the basement until the last possible moment. I don’t care how they are spinning it; no way is any candidate going to be elected by refusing to debate his opponent. Let the pessimists among us fret and worry. Yes, these are all anecdotal, but taken together and on top of everything these past few weeks and months, they can’t be ignored and tell you a heck of a lot more than just standard polling.
