Good morning kids. Start of a brand new week so let’s get right to it. The big story is the Trump/Putin Summit in Helsinki which is happening as we speak. The Democrat-Left-Media complex is having a fit since, a) they believe Russia rigged the 2016 election and b) that President Trump colluded with them to…
Morning Report (7/12/2018)
Good morning kids. Lots of stuff to cover so let’s get to it. While the Brett Kavanaugh nomination is obviously still at the top, the actual storylines surrounding it are as old as the stains on Hillary’s Watergate-era 18 Hour Girdle. Once again, bereft of any legitimate concern or criticisms of Brett Kavanaugh, the Democrat-Left…
Morning Report (06/26/2018)
Good morning kids. Tuesday and the continued, increasingly unhinged behavior and rhetoric coming from the Democrat-Left-Media complex and its supporters ramps up, even as by all accounts they have lost control of the issue and the messaging with the public; the Trump base and crucially more and more of a large segment of heretofore people…
Against Helicopter Parenting: A Story
Lenore Skenazy (of Free Range Kids) and Jonathan Haidt (Of Heterodox Academy and also previously appearing on this blog) have the Cover Article on an upcoming edition of Reason Magazine. The article is, in many respects, a distilling down of the larger body of work on overprotective parenting and combatting it. Not that I find…
Maddness And (The lack Of) Civilization
In light of the Harvey Weinstein mess, more and more Hollywood people are starting to fall. What’s most fascinating to me is that the left is feigning complete shock. Setting aside whether or not many of them knew (I tend to think most of Hollywood, and likely half the political establishment knew) there’s the question…
Not Being Good At Video Games
Hello! Dissertation is out of my hands awaiting approval from someone to send it out to get approval from other people. Academia really knows how to make work. In any case, I wanted to stop and talk about something I really like: video games! Specifically I wanted to talk about a game called “Cuphead.” Cuphead…
The Religion Of Science
Hello from dissertation land. As the Moron Horde meme goes: #Twoweeks! (if all goes well at least). I wanted to write briefly about Verad Mehta’s mini tweet storm that starts here: In twenty years, the sociology of scientific knowledge/science studies folks are going to have a field day with the "I love science" crowd. — Varad Mehta…
Some Quick And Random Thoughts On “The Pile On.”
As I said, these thoughts will be quick and somewhat random. I got feedback from my dissertation readers, and while it’s not awful it’s not exactly great either. So my free time is more or less nil until I figure this out. But I felt like this was worth trying to put words to. So the…
Nothing So Permanent As a Goverment Program
The original Friedman quote said “temporary government program” but I think it works this way as well. And today’s events cementing ObamaCare seem to prove that point. So what happened? Much blame will be thrown around. Trump Fans will blame congress. Trump Haters will blame Trump and Democrats will try to take credit for what…
It’s not just India
Why is India so filthy? | The Ugly Indian | TEDxBangalore I’m back, despite popular demand. I just came across this video, and like this guy’s perspective, which could usefully be adopted here in our blighted areas. The question is how to promote these types of initiatives here? Thoughts?
